My Self-Development Plan

After taking the Myers Briggs type indicator assessment online, my results were that I am an ISFP personality. There are strengths and weaknesses that come with this personality type. I plan to use the knowledge from my personality type test results to further my self development in leadership roles. As an ISFP, I may have difficulty dealing with difficult situations and challenges. I will have to develop a strong sense of resilience so that I can better handle difficult situations and challenges. I also find that I have difficulty reaching out to others for help and support. I’ll have to take the time to build a strong network of support that I can rely on when you need help or advice. I also find difficulty in believing in myself and my abilities. I will have to build my self-confidence and trust in my own abilities. This will help me to be more confident in my leadership role.

According to the article I read in Harvard Business Review, there are many qualities to a leader that women should focus on developing. To add to my self development plan; I will develop a strong network of mentors and peers. This will include reaching out to other women in leadership roles and building relationships with them. As well as asking for advice and feedback on my leadership style and strategies. I will also have to develop my communication skills, both verbally and written. Learning to communicate my ideas and opinions in a clear and concise manner will make me a valuable leader. I will also be working on developing my emotional intelligence, problem-solving skills, resilience, self awareness, and negotiation skills. All of these will help bring the best outcomes for myself and my team.

According to the Forbes Article, “Why the world needs more women in leadership”, I have learned some valuable skills I will add to my self development plan. I will have to develop a strong presence, by being visible and engaging with colleagues. I should also begin to work on a personal brand for myself. This will reflect my values as a leader. I will also need to develop a strong understanding of the business, team, competition, and the customer.

After identifying the areas of my personality and skill sets that could use some development, I have found which are the most important to strengthen for my career as a woman in leadership. In my efforts to improve these parts of myself I will continue to take classes like these, attend seminars or other events related to female networking, and include some female authored leadership and self development books to my nightly routine. Secondly, I will further my network of women and reach out to them for help and advice when I need it. Lastly, I will actively look for opportunities to mentor or advise other women in the workplace.
