A Self Development Plan

Karley Messner Professor Kivin  Women in Leadership 19 February 2023 My Self-Development Plan After taking the Myers Briggs type indicator assessment online, my results were that I am an ISFP personality. There are strengths and weaknesses that come with this personality type. I plan to use the knowledge from my personality type test results to further my self development in leadership roles. As an ISFP, I may have difficulty dealing with difficult situations and challenges. I will have to develop a strong sense of resilience so that I can better handle difficult situations and challenges. I also find that I have difficulty reaching out to others for help and support. I’ll have to take the time to build a strong network of support that I can rely on when you need help or advice. I also find difficulty in believing in myself and my abilities. I will have to build my self-confidence and trust in my own abilities. This will help me to be more confident in my leadership role. Ac...

A Poker Analogy, Argumentative Essay

Karley Messner Professor Evans  Business Ethics 22 March 2023 Argument Essay Albert's car and poker analogy are not effective comparisons, as cars and poker are two different things that cannot be compared in the same way. Cars and poker involve two different sets of skills; the ability to drive a car does not necessarily translate into the ability to play poker. Cars and poker involve different levels of risk; while driving a car involves some risk, the level of risk associated with poker is generally much higher. Cars and poker are different in terms of the potential outcomes; while driving a car may lead to a positive outcome, the outcome of a poker game depends on the luck and skill of the players. As for my opposing argument, I think Albert's car and poker analogy is an effective comparison, as it demonstrates the interconnectedness of two seemingly unrelated objects. A person who disagrees with my opinion would likely argue that Albert's car and poker analogy are ef...

Karley Messner Professor Steffen Digital Writing 27 July 2024 Infographic Essay The five literacies of social media; Attention, Participation, Collaboration, Network Awareness, and Critical Consumption, offer a helpful way to understand how people interact online. Attention is the foundation of all the literacies; it’s about focusing on what matters in a world full of information. In our digital age, where distractions are everywhere, being able to capture and maintain attention is crucial. It allows individuals to engage more deeply with content and to understand the significance of the information they encounter. Participation encourages users to actively engage rather than just consume content, allowing them to share their ideas and build community. When people participate, they contribute to discussions, share experiences, and help shape the online landscape, making it richer and more diverse. A Personal Narrative Essay

Karley Messner Professor Steffen  Digital Writing 27 July 2024 Personal Narrative My name is Karley Messner, and I’m a 23-year-old student pursuing a degree in Leadership and Finance at Old Dominion University. Though I study online and have the flexibility to stay in Virginia Beach, my hometown, my journey has been anything but static. It’s a journey defined by curiosity, mentorship, and a commitment to forging my own path in the world of finance. I first realized my passion for finance during my junior year of high school in my financial management class. The way numbers could tell a story about a business, an economy, or even an individual’s future fascinated me. I found myself captivated by budgeting, investment strategies, and economic principles. I quickly understood that finance was about more than just numbers; it was about making informed decisions that could shape lives and businesses. This realization solidified my desire to pursue a career in finance. As I progre...
